Catalogo infiniti Almost Icons 2019

ALMOST ICONS / 2019 Ruelle comes from the fourth Infiniti Design Contest, as a review of the typical chairs outside the bistros in the French village’s small streets (so called “Ruelles”), with a clean design and a large backrest. Its structure is made of alumi- num, while the sinuous backrest is made of oak plywood. Ruelle is the perfect synthesis between the lightness of wood and strenght of metal. Ruelle chair shows its outdoor version, with perforated seat with thin lines cut and a new plastic backrest. This outdoor version can come as well into “veranda” option, with perforated seat ma- tched with wooden back. RUELLE DESIGN: PHILIPPE TABET “Design for me is an ensemble of elements. When I was a kid, I used to draw characters, objects, shapes, a bit like I do today. The difference, however, is that when I draw an object today, I think immediately to its material, to its production process or to its function. In the transition from drawing to design, I have found fascinating the materialization of a sketch or of an idea, the transformation of something flat into something tridimensional. For example two simple wood layers glued together give birth to an object in volume: this is also the starting point of the Ruelle chair.” THE PERFECT BALANCED MIX BETWEEN TRADITION AND MODERNITY MY CHALLENGE IN THIS CASE HAS BEEN TO MAKE THE UNION OF THESE TWO MATERIALS AS MUCH HARMONIOUS AS POSSIBLE, AS THE UNION BETWEEN TECHNIQUE AND DRAWING. 53 52
