132 David Adjaye David Adjaye OBE è nato in Tanzania da genitori ghanesi: ha assorbito gli influssi dell’arte e della musica contemporanea, della scienza, delle forme d’arte africana e della vita metropolitana. Nel 2000 ha fondato lo studio Adjaye Associates, ottenendo immediatamente diversi incarichi prestigiosi. Lo studio Adjaye Associates attualmente ha sede a Londra e a New York e lavora in tutto il mondo su progetti che spaziano dall’arredamento all’urbanistica. Tra gli incarichi più recenti citiamo lo Smithsonian National Museum of African American History sul National Mall a Washington DC, il concept store Alara a Lagos, il centro di arte e shopping Aishti Foundation a Beirut e l’edifico della nuova sede di International Finance Corporation a Dakar. David Adjaye OBE was born in Tanzania to Ghanaian parents, his influences range from contemporary art, music and science to African art forms and the civic life of cities. He founded Adjaye Associates in 2000 and immediately won several prestigious commissions. Adjaye Associates now has offices in London and New York and is working throughout the world on projects ranging from furniture to master planning. Recent works include the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture on the National Mall in Washington DC, the Alara concept store in Lagos, the Aishti Foundation arts and retail centre in Beirut and a new headquarters building for the International Finance Corporation in Dakar.
