Quality, ethics and passion 30 Th —year Che cosa fa un divano oltre alla sua funzione primaria, ovvero far sedere le persone? it — A un primo sguardo, un divano è un oggetto semplice: una scatola di legno o di ferro cui si aggiungono dei cuscini. Abbiamo quindi sentito l’urgenza di interrogare l’oggetto divano, cogliendone le doti di flessibilità e atemporalità. Individuarle per amplificarle. Espandere la struttura nelle sue parti centrali per poi scoprire che il divano, più che un oggetto, è un luogo d’inclusione e di condivisione. Del resto, l’etimologia stessa della parola ne racchiude il senso profondo: il divano è “il luogo in cui si prendono le decisioni importanti”. Quando s’interroga qualcosa o qualcuno, ci si aspetta una reazione. Un fare, che però non deve essere né banale, né complicato. Deve essere immediato come un gesto e avere una finalità. Ecco nascere un divano che cambia con grazia, modellandosi sulle esigenze ergonomiche di ognuno di noi e, fedele a se stesso, muta insieme al mutare della vita. È l’arte di adattarsi a ogni tempo e a ogni spazio. E siccome fare bene è forse meglio di fare tanto, abbiamo sublimato questi principi in progetti che ci permettessero di esprimere un’eleganza ineffabile e obliqua. Una linea curva e flessibile, una forma morbida che attraversa lo spazio del living e allarga lo sguardo verso altri territori: la stanza da letto e gli esterni, cui si aggiungono dei piccoli accessori a completamento. Infine, fuggendo da imperativi categorici su come debba essere un ambiente per poter accogliere un nostro prodotto, abbiamo immaginato una pluralità di case. Quattro nuclei abitativi possibili che rivelano storie diverse, tutte valide, tutte personali. Ve le raccontiamo in questo catalogo, che è anche un progetto filosofico, un manifesto dell’abitare e del farsi abitare. Il divano non si accontenta del suo status di mero oggetto estetico ma diventa la risposta a un bisogno. Una risposta migliorativa alla qualità della vita dei singoli, e insieme trasversale nel pubblico cui si rivolge. Perché – inutile dirlo – il vero protagonista di questo viaggio non è il luogo divano ma le persone che lo vivono. Amelia Pegorin What more can a sofa do other than its primary function of seating people? en — At first glance, a sofa is a simple object: a wood or iron box onto which pillows are adjusted. We therefore felt the urge to question the very object that is the sofa, with its qualities of flexibility and timelessness. Identify these, to then amplify them. Expanding the structure within its central parts to then discover that the sofa is not just an object, but a place of inclusion and sharing. Afterall, the etymology of the word encloses its profound meaning: “the sofa is the place from which important decisions are taken”. When interrogating something or someone, a reaction is expected. An action that however cannot be neither banal, nor complicated. It has to be immediate like a gesture and have a purpose. Here a sofa is born, which changes with grace, modelling itself upon everybody’s ergonomic requirements and, faithful to itself, transforms alongside life’s transformations. It is the art of adaptation to any time and place. Since doing well is probably better than doing loads, we have elevated these principles into objects that would allow us to express an indescribable and oblique elegance. A curved and flexible line, a soft form that crosses the living area and broadens our gaze towards other territories: the bedroom and the outdoor as well as other small accessories. Lastly, fleeing from categorical imperatives that dictate how a space should be to welcome one of our products, we have imagined a plurality of homes. Four inhabited nuclei that narrate different stories, all valid, all personal. We illustrate them in this catalogue, which also represents a philosophical project, a manifesto of living and being lived. The sofa does not settle for its status as a mere aesthetic object, but becomes an answer to a specific need. An improved answer to anyone’s quality of life, and transversal to the public it addresses.
